Myofascial Dry Needling

Myofascial Dry Needling

Myofascial Pain

Myofascial pain is caused by "trigger points", which are localized and sometimes painful contractures ('knots') found in skeletal muscle and fascia.

Myofascial Dry Needling is used for the assessment and treatment of myofascial pain syndrome due to myofascial trigger points.

Pain reduction is achieved by inserting an acupuncture needle into a trigger point, causing a local twitch response. This results in the following:

  • Provides muscle relaxation and pain relief
  • Improves range of movement at time of treatment
  • Decreases Pain

While myofascial dry needling employs the tools of acupuncture practice (acupuncture needles), the paradigms that underpin myofascial dry needling and acupuncture are completely different
